From Ford, to BMW, just about every major automaker is working on one thing: self-driving cars.

The benefits could be enormous. Imagine a future with no car accidents, no traffic, and no road rage, as completely automated cars dance in an efficient choreography. Imagine a future where the blind could drive as easily the sighted.

In fact, thanks to research into autonomous vehicles, many automakers are making forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking standard safety features.

Yet, as for letting a robotic car completely "take the wheel," most people say they would be afraid.

This comes from a survey conducted by AAA, which found that 81 percent of women, and 67 percent of men would be scared to ride in a self-driving car. In the same breath, 61 percent say they want semi-autonomous features on their next car -- things like automatic emergency braking, self-parking, and lane-keeping assistance.

What do you think about self-driving cars? Would you want a car that can navigate all on its own, or are you happy with just a few intelligent safety features? Let us know at AutoCenters St. Charles, and we'll help you find the technology you're looking for in our extensive pre-owned inventory.
