It's true that in the early days of the auto industry, many cars were made of wood. Few, however, could claim to be made of a solid cedar log.
This novelty vehicle looks like someone ripped a post out of a log cabin and stuck wheels on it, and that's not far off from how the vehicle came to be.
Bryan Reid Sr. is the star of Timber Kings, a reality series about his log cabin business. Reid is friends with an auto mechanic, and the two decided to combine their interests for an episode of the show. The "Cedar Rocket" uses mechanical components from a used Mazda sports car, and is powered by an all-electric motor -- so it's as "green" as the tree it was cut from.
The Cedar Rocket holds the Guinness World Record for fastest motorized log. Reid made the bid for the record to garner public attention; he will be auctioning the vehicle off next year, with all proceeds to charity.
