You could be cruising down the highway and not even realize your Nissan has just been scanned. Cops with lasers sounds like the future, doesn't it?

Wait, no it doesn't. That sounds exactly like what cops already do to catch speeders.

Similar technology may soon be used to detect not just your speed, but if someone is behind the wheel drunk.

As cool as it is to be able to detect exhaled alcohol vapor from 65 feet, the technology has its flaws. For one, all you have to do is roll down your window to fool the sensors. More annoying than that, if you're being a responsible designated driver, you could be pulled over because of your intoxicated passengers being detected!

Still, with injuries and fatalities caused by drivers under the influence becoming a pandemic, this new method has the potential to save lives.

What do you think? Is it weird to have a cop detecting the chemical composition of your car? Should they even be allowed to do that? Give us your opinion when you visit AutoCenters St. Charles.
