At AutoCenters St. Charles, we know a thing or two about credit when it comes to getting an auto loan. And if you have bad credit--or no credit--in the St. Louis area, you may be thinking that there aren't good options for you.

The good news is that that's just not true. Our financing programs have helped drivers with no credit and bad credit get the loans they need. The better news? We're starting a series right here on our blog to detail some of the safest, fastest, and easiest ways to improve your credit score.

We took a brief look at three ways to build your credit last month, but now we're diving deep into the tricky and sometimes confusing world of credit scores and account reporting. Our first topic is arguably the most important: paying your bills on time.

It's the most obvious way to improve your credit score--or to start building a positive credit history--but it's not always the easiest! Sometimes, life gets in the way.

Auto-Pay

The smartest choice is to, whenever possible, sign up for auto-pay programs through the lender you're working with. Many credit card companies, auto loan lenders, and other agencies now offer auto-pay. You give the secure agency info for your checking or savings account, and the money comes out automatically on the same day every month.

You'll never miss a payment, and your credit will start to bump up and up.

Calendar Reminders

If you're worried about having money in the bank and don't want to have to trust in auto-pay, consider setting payment reminders on your phone or work calendar--or even just marking the physical calendar hanging up at home!

The more on-time payments you make on your accounts, the faster you can boost your credit score, or build up a great new credit history.
