AutoGuide.com decided to show us the proper way to load an ATV into the bed of a truck as part of its "How to Truck" series. Following these steps could take some of the fuss out of your next ATV trip.
- Use only quality ATV ramps with the appropriate weight rating.
- First position the ATV behind the truck, then position the ramps to match up with the center of your ATV's wheels.
- Secure the ramps with a strap from the underside of the ramp, to the safety chain hookup.
- Don your helmet, and ride the ATV up the ramps in 4-Low.
- Park the ATV in the bed, and pull the parking brake. Remove the key and put it somewhere safe.
- Close the tailgate if possible. Use ratcheting straps to tie down, and compress the ATV's suspension. If you don't have ratcheting straps, get a friend to sit on the ATV while you tie.
We hope you get to take advantage of these tips as the weather becomes warm and the days grow longer. Visit AutoCenters St. Charles to test drive a capable used truck in St. Charles, MO.
